About this site and the Rowan University Ad Club:
This website is managed and hosted by the advertising students of Rowan University in Glassboro NJ with oversight by the Philadelphia Ad Club's executive committee and Board of Governors who are responsible for the content.
The original concept and the PAC-Rowan relationship was initiated in October 2002 by Blaise Howard , VP/General Manager of WBEB-FM/B101. With help from the Rowan advertising class of '03, Charles Volpe created and now manages the content with help from current Rowan University advertising students.
The 130-member Rowan University Ad Club is a student-run organization for advertising majors and for students interested in advertising. The club, celebrating its 30th year at Rowan University, meets weekly with programs including: guest speakers, workshops, carpooled trips, conferences and agency visits, sports and social activities and a major banquet (usually the last Thursday in April) where students, grads, faculty and regional professionals gather for a fun and celebratory evening. The club also sponsors a student-run agency that handles real accounts and is active with the Philadelphia Advertising Club with projects such as this web site (editorial/photography) and ADDY logistics. Our faculty advisor is Professor Charles Volpe, who has advised our club for the past 18 years.
The advertising program at Rowan, a program of distinction, houses courses in print and broadcast copywriting, media planning, direct response advertising, advertising strategies and advertising campaigns, and prepares students for positions in account management, creative and media planning. A number of our grads have gone on to become "superstars" handling strategic planning and creative for some of the top agencies throughout the country. Many have won top honors with Clios, ADDYs, One Show, Cannes Film Festival and other such awards. One Rowan alumni has even been honored with TV Guide's "Top 50 Commercials of All Time" and won the $ 100,000 grand prize in the Radio Mercury Awards.
